In honor of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, the City of Jonesboro is hosting a donation drive to supply Jonesboro Animal Services with needed items.
Jonesboro and Northeast Arkansas are in a unique position regarding earthquake safety, as it sits on the New Madrid Fault Line, a fault line with a “significant chance of producing an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 or higher.”
“Just a few weeks ago, this was a two-lane road with 15,000 cars going down it each day. You had pedestrian pathways that were beaten down by foot, walking just a mere inches from cars going 40 and 45 miles an hour,” city’s chief administrative officer Brian Richardson told JRN.
The Jonesboro Police Department is accepting donations for its upcoming Trunk or Treat in downtown Jonesboro.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, where everyone gets to talk to an astronaut live, and on top of that, we weren’t just communicating with Ham radio, we got to see them,” said Haley Bagwell, EAST facilitator at UHSMA.
The northbound lanes at an intersection are blocked due to an accident, according to Jonesboro E911 dispatch.
A temporary road closure will be in effect on Main Street in downtown Jonesboro Monday night.
Traffic pattern changes for the kickoff of the Arkansas Graveler are scheduled in early October as more than 200 cyclists begin their journey across the Delta from Jonesboro.
