Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – The Arvest Foundation recently announced a $6,500 grant to the NEA Baptist Charitable Foundation.

The grant will go to the Auxiliary Mammogram Fund, which provides mammography services for uninsured and underinsured women who may otherwise not be able to afford screening service.

Kevin Hufstedler, community bank president for Arvest Bank in Jonesboro, presented the check on behalf of the Arvest Foundation to Kim Provost, executive director of NEA Baptist Charitable Foundation and Craig Early, chief executive officer of NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. They were joined by Arvest associates Joe Verser, commercial loan manager; Teresa Roche, private banking advisor; and Zach Fahlberg, commercial banker.

“We are excited to present this grant on behalf of the Arvest Foundation to this much needed program in our community,” said Hufstedler. “With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, we wanted to make this gift to support the vital work the NEA Charitable Foundation is doing.”

The organization was originally known as the NEA Clinic Charitable Foundation and was formed in 2001 by the physician leadership of the NEA Clinic to give back to the community. With a mission of helping change lives throughout the Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri regions, the physicians wanted to create programs that would meet the needs they were seeing among patients.

In 2010, the NEA Clinic along with the NEA Clinic Charitable Foundation merged with the Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation to become the NEA Baptist Health System. Now a part of the Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation, the NEA Baptist Charitable Foundation has six programs it utilizes to meet the needs of its community.

“We are grateful to the Arvest Foundation for its support of the Auxiliary Mammogram Fund,” said Provost. “This gift will help remove financial barriers to mammography services and ensure more women in our community have access to potentially lifesaving screening and early detection.”
