Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – Arkansas State Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Pezman announced Tuesday that Brian Dooley has decided to step down from his position as head women’s soccer coach to pursue other professional opportunities.

“We appreciate everything Brian Dooley has done for our women’s soccer program,” said Pezman. “His strong commitment to Arkansas State University, our student-athletes and community during his 12 years as head coach was unwavering, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Dooley, named A-State’s fifth all-time head women’s soccer coach on Jan. 12, 2015, recently completed his 12th season with the Red Wolves in 2026.  A-State completed the season with a 3-9-4 record, giving the Red Wolves 81 on-field victories during his tenure that stand as the most by any head coach in program history.

Dooley, the 2020 and 2021 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year, coached 15 players to All-Sun Belt Conference recognition, including three to Player of the Year honors during his tenure.

“I appreciate the opportunity I was given the last 12 years to build a respectable program, and I am proud of what we were able to achieve during that time,” said Dooley. “The accomplishments we attained were a testament to the dedication of the many players I had the opportunity to coach, and I want to thank them and our coaching staff members for their tremendous commitment to the program. I wish nothing but the best for the university and student-athletes and their families in the future.”

Phil Woods has been appointed interim head coach after spending the last three years as a member of the Red Wolves’ coaching staff, including the last two seasons as an assistant coach.  Arkansas State will begin an immediate national search for its sixth all-time head women’s soccer coach.
