Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – An Arkansas State University student was selected to receive the prestigious Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Scholarship for the 2026-27 academic year, totaling $15,000.

Master of Accountancy with Data Analytics student Jasmine Tran received the honor. The Paragould native also earned her undergraduate degree from A-State.

“I am extremely excited to be a recipient of the scholarship. I am especially thankful to the accounting department for nominating me,” said Tran.

The first-generation college student said the scholarship will make a significant difference as she completes her studies.

“It helps ease the financial burden and allows me to continue focusing on my coursework while preparing for a career in public accounting. Continuing my education and earning my master’s degree is a meaningful achievement, and this scholarship provides valuable support as I work toward that goal. I am incredibly grateful to the PCAOB and A-State for providing opportunities like this for students and for investing in the future of accounting professionals,” said Tran.

Tran said she is excited to continue learning and growing professionally because of the scholarship. She credits her professors with challenging her to excel academically as she works toward her master’s degree.

“What makes this scholarship especially meaningful is the support and encouragement I have received from my professors throughout my time at A-State,” she added. 

Dr. James Doering, chair of the Department of Accounting and HCJ CPAs & Advisors, and Louis and Ann Schaff Distinguished Professor of Accounting in the Neil Griffin College of Business,  nominated Tran.

“Jasmine exemplifies the type of student we strive to develop through our accounting programs. After completing our undergraduate accounting with data analytics program, she chose to continue her education in our master of accountancy with data analytics program, demonstrating her commitment to expanding her knowledge and preparing for a successful career in accounting,” said Doering. 

Tran was one of a handful of students nationwide named a PCAOB Scholar and joins a growing list of Red Wolves who have received the honor in recent years.

“This scholarship is awarded to a select group of accounting students nationwide, and we are proud to see an A-State student earn this distinction. A-State has been well represented among PCAOB Scholarship recipients in recent years, reflecting the strength of our accounting programs, the quality of our students, and the preparation they receive for careers in the accounting profession,” Doering added.

Since 2011, the PCAOB has awarded more than $20 million in scholarships to students. The nonprofit corporation was established by Congress to oversee the audits of public companies, brokers and dealers, helping protect investors and the public interest by promoting informative, accurate and independent audit reports and ensuring compliance with federal securities laws.
