Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – One of the men arrested during a multi-agency police response near the Nettleton STEAM school last week also faces charges in connection to a separate robbery.

Darrick Harris, 19, appeared before District Judge Tommy Fowler Friday, who found probable cause to charge Harris with aggravated robbery (Class Y felony) and theft of $1,000 or less – purse snatching (Class A misdemeanor).

The charges stem from a Sept. 12 incident where Harris and two accomplices were captured on video at Kroger.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the trio approached a juvenile Boy Scout’s table at the store’s entrance, noticed his money bag, and briefly entered the store together.

Upon exiting, Harris and one accomplice reportedly waited near their bicycles while the third suspect approached the victim and threatened him, implying he had a gun in his bag.

Police said the suspect stole the money bag containing over $600 in donations and popcorn sales, and all three individuals fled the scene together. A short time later, Harris and the suspect who took the money bag were seen together in the Cedar Heights area.

Harris was arrested on Oct. 20, the same day he was taken into custody during an incident that caused the Nettleton STEAM school to go into a precautionary lockdown.

Court documents say the lockdown was prompted by a nearby “shots heard” report on Mary Jane Drive, leading to a police response where Harris and two juveniles fled from officers on foot. At the time, police were aware of Harris, as he was connected to an armed robbery that occurred two days prior. For his initial arrest, Harris faced only a fleeing and separate aggravated robbery charge.

Harris is currently being held on a $150,000 bond and scheduled to be back in court Dec. 16 for both of his cases.

Another suspect arrested during the Nettleton incident, 22-year-old Ryan Johnson, is currently out on bond as of Oct. 30.

Johnson faces charges of possession of a handgun on school property and obstructing governmental operations after police said he was found walking 60 feet from the school building and had a firearm on him. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 23.
