Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Two men are behind bars after Jonesboro police said a late Saturday encounter led to the discovery of weapons and a backpack containing fentanyl and meth.

At 9:39 p.m., May 9, Jonesboro police officers noticed two men, 20-year-old Isaiah Allen Mccullough and 22-year-old Tanner Chase Bobbitt, walking near the road on Warren Street.

According to the probable cause affidavit, as the officers got closer, the two turned away from the vehicle and walked into a nearby wood line. When officers made contact, Bobbitt was seen carrying a hatchet, and Mccullough was carrying a knife. Officers advised both to drop the weapons. While Bobbitt dropped his, Mccullough did not and turned away. Officers were able to get the knife from him.

After this, Mccullough began walking away from officers, acting erratically. He was then told he was being detained and did not comply with the officer’s commands. A vape was removed from McCullough, who told them he was about to turn 21.

He was advised to remove his backpack, and he started to move away from the vehicle as if he were going to run, and continued to ignore the officer’s commands. Officers forced him to put his hands behind his back as he was still resisting and trying to get away.

Mccullough’s backpack was searched, and officers found several items, including various drugs and paraphernalia:

  • A baggie containing 2.05 grams of a substance that tested positive for fentanyl and meth
  • Another baggie containing .5 grams of meth
  • A glass pipe
  • A THC vape

Mccullough and Bobbitt were both arrested at 10:15 p.m., according to the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office roster.

On May 11, Mccullough appeared in front of District Judge Tommy Fowler. He found probable cause to charge Mccullough with several offenses:

  • Possession of fentanyl (Class C felony)
  • Possession of meth or cocaine greater than two grams but less than 10 grams (Class C felony)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor)
  • Resisting arrest – refusal to submit to arrest/active or passive refusal (Class B misdemeanor)
  • Possession of a Schedule VI substance less than four ounces (Class A misdemeanor)
  • Possession of a cigarette or a tobacco product by a minor (confiscation – additional punishment) (Unclassified offense)

Mccullough is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash/surety bond. If convicted, he faces up to 22 years in prison and up to $26,000 in fines.

Police noted that at the time of his arrest, Bobbitt had an active felony warrant. He is currently being held on a first-degree terroristic threatening charge with no bond determined.
