Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A Jonesboro man is being held on a $150,000 cash/surety bond after police said he attacked his wife with a wrench and choked her unconscious during a domestic disturbance over the weekend.
District Judge David Boling found probable cause July 13 to charge 33-year-old Marcus Ryan Sims with three class D felonies:
- Aggravated assault on a family or household member
- Second-degree battery/purpose of causing injury
- First-degree terroristic threatening/threatens physical injury or property damage

According to the probable cause affidavit, on July 11, Jonesboro police officers responded to a home for a disturbance, and upon arrival, a victim told them that her husband, Sims, had hit her in the head with a wrench, causing serious injury, and choked her unconscious. Multiple injuries from previous incidents of alleged abuse from Sims were also found.
The victim said that she was afraid to report incidents to police and Sims had threatened to kill her and her family members. The victim was taken to a hospital for her injuries.
Sims was arrested and booked into the Craighead County Detention Center at 5:36 p.m. that day, according to the roster.
In determining the $150,000 bond, Boling noted that Sims was arrested on four prior offenses, three of which he was convicted of. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release to ensure compliance with the no-contact order.
Sims’ next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 21. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 18 years in prison and fines up to $30,000.
