Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – Acme Brick Company will cease manufacturing operations at its Jonesboro plant at the end of the year.

The scheduled last day of brick production at the facility at 2905 Dan Ave. will be Dec. 31.

Gary Grant, director of human resources for Acme Brick Company, confirmed the decision to JRN, saying 27 employees will be affected. He added the company is working to relocate the impacted workers.

“We are actively pursuing opportunities for these associates to secure positions at other Arkansas plants and locations throughout our footprint that have job openings,” Grant said.

Despite the halt in production, Acme Brick will still maintain a presence in Jonesboro. Grant confirmed that the sales office, yard, and distribution operations on Dan Avenue will remain open to service the public and local contractors.

When asked about the official reason for halting local production, Grant cited economic and operational strategy.

“These changes are part of an effort to better align our operations with market conditions, improve profitability and position Acme for long-term success,” he said. “Our focus remains on serving our customers and strengthening the business for the future.”

The Jonesboro plant, originally built in 1966 by the Wheeler Brick Company, was purchased by Acme Brick in 2000.

This is a developing story. JRN will provide updates as they are available.
