Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 13, 2024 – National Skilled Nursing Care Week is an annual celebration highlighting the essential role of nursing homes in providing care and support to residents.

This year the theme is ‘Radiant Memories – A Tribute to the Golden Age of Radio’. Nursing homes all around the country will infuse nostalgia and joy into festivities.

Locally at St. Elizabeth’s and Craighead Nursing Center (CNC), residents and staff are gearing up for a week filled with themed activities, special events, and heartfelt moments.

Throughout the week of May 13th-17th, a variety of engaging events await for both facilities. St. Elizabeth’s residents are set to tie-dye shirts, provide a cookout for staff/residents, host 104.9 The Fox with a live remote broadcast, and star Terry Jenkins to sing for the residents. They’ll also organize a Groovy Disco Ball, and Dierksen Hospice will host Kona Ice and a pizza party for staff/residents.

Craighead Nursing Center also plans to go big for each decade. Activities include a Jazz Pianist, creating their version of a casino, inviting in the Crowley’s Ridge Cruiser Antique Car Club, hosting a sock hop and soda fountain, tie-dying shirts, and presenting Ty Stevens to play 70’s classics. Karaoke and a Battle of the Decades Jeopardy games are also planned. 

Beyond the excitement of Nursing Home Week, St. Elizabeth’s and CNC both offer a rich tapestry of activities throughout the month. From bingo and Bible study to outings for lunch and shopping, residents have ample opportunities for socialization and engagement. Special events like the Queen Pageant and participation in the Senior Olympics enhance residents’ sense of belonging and fulfillment.
