Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 7, 2024 – Circuit Judge-Elect Doug Brimhall of Jonesboro resigned from his position as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney on Tuesday.

Sources tell JonesboroRightNow that Brimhall may face charges following an altercation this past weekend.

Second Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Sonia Hagood confirmed to JRN that Brimhall resigned from his position as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney on Tuesday. Hagood declined further comment.

Those same sources tell JRN that Brimhall was at a residence in the Sage Meadows subdivision Saturday afternoon when Jonesboro police were called.

JRN could not locate a police report referencing an incident at Sage Meadows in the batch of weekend incident reports that were posted Monday on the JPD website. Tuesday, a JRN Reporter asked JPD Chief Rick Elliott about the report, telling Chief Elliott we were “trying to find out about Doug Brimhall and why there wasn’t an incident report about it.” Chief Elliott responded, “there is a report 24-4500, see if posted today,” suggesting that report 24-4500 is related to a case involving Brimhall.

JRN located and obtained the preliminary incident report 24-4500 from JPD, but it is heavily redacted, giving almost no information. The MO (modus operandi) on the report simply states, “suspect attacked victim.” The suspect is listed as a 40-year-old male with green eyes. The victim is listed as a 16-year-old female. The report also indicates there were three witnesses to the incident and references a 37-year-old female as the complainant. All names are redacted.

A former neighbor told JRN that the listed 37 year old complainant was Brimhall’s ex-wife Lark Montgomery.

The report indicates pending charges of aggravated assault on a family or household member (a felony) and third degree endangering the welfare of a minor (a misdemeanor).

All other information, including the incident location, has been masked by JPD.

Brimhall won the Circuit Judge, District 2, Division 4 seat in the recent March election defeating Curtis Walker, Jr of Blytheville. He is slated to begin serving the position in January.

JRN attempted to call Brimhall at his law offices for comment. Our call was not returned.
