Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A heat advisory will be in effect for much of Northeast Arkansas, including Craighead County, on Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will be in effect Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with heat index values of up to 107°F.

It noted that hot temperatures, combined with high humidity, could cause heat illnesses. People are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioning and out of the sun whenever possible, and to check on relatives and neighbors.

“Heat and humidity ramp up to a MAJOR Risk (Level 3/4) this coming Tuesday for most of the Mid-South and will persist through late week,” the NWS said. “This is our first real taste of summertime heat—now is the time to prepare! Check on neighbors, hydrate, and never leave kids or pets in vehicles. Stay weather aware!”
