Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – April 24, 2024 – If you’re anything like me, you crave the ‘work from home’ life. Rolling out of bed a bit later, less commute, more breaks to walk the dogs, and often more autonomy of your schedule? Sign me up, please! However, working from home can have one major con: lack of motivation.

Insert solution: Coffee shops

If any of you know me personally, you know I’m a big fan of coffee shops, so much so that I co-started one of my own. Coffee shops are an amazing communal place where anyone can work on just about any type of work. You can easily see a student studying, a podcast being edited, or perhaps a new business plan being created. Coffee shops are collective spaces, using food and beverages as a binder, for you to feed off the energy of others also working, which in a work from home lifestyle is almost essential for success

Instead of paying for a space in a WeWork like office, which isn’t the best way to spend your money, anyways, coffee shops are a great place to be around other working people that also respect your space and time. Think of it as an *almost* free work space. The price of admission is simply a good matcha, coffee, or latte. To me, it’s a productivity investment that is beyond worth making.  (In fact, I’m writing this from a coffee shop right now, and I don’t think I would’ve written this article as fast at home).

In Jonesboro, there are three coffee shops I frequent regularly. The first is Verb Cafe + Bookstore. What I love about Verb is that it’s quiet, unique, so homey, and just being surrounded by books is extremely inspiring for getting work done. It’s also one of the only places in Jonesboro with outdoor seating, which allows you to get a bit of Vitamin D – something the work from home life often deprives us of.

The second location I frequent is IV Kings Coffee. I head over to their Nettleton location at least once a week for a buzzing energy that lights a fire under me to get some work done. While their Nettleton location comes with plenty of pastries to drool over, I believe their downtown location is a hidden gem. With plenty of light and an industrial vibe, I love being able to knock out plenty of work in a much more “city” feeling being downtown.

Lastly, I would say that Shadrach’s Hilltop location is also a hidden gem. One of their only locations with indoor seating, I tend to head there for guaranteed plenty parking, a plethora of light, comfy couches, and I might even head over to get some chocolate next door at Deso Chocolate after a decaf shot of espresso in the afternoon.

Many coffee shops appeal to me, but these three locations stand out the most because I need tons of light, a wide array of hours to choose from, and indoor/outdoor options.
