Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 29, 2025 — Valley View Public Schools is mourning the death of one of its students.
The district posted on Facebook that one of its students, Bentley Peterson, died on Friday, July 25. He was 14. He was a student at Valley View Junior High School, played trombone in the Blazer Band, and was a member of the district’s theatre program.
“He was known for his bright smile and kind heart, which touched everyone who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to his family and friends,” the district’s Facebook post said. “Once a Blazer, Always a Blazer!”
According to his obituary, Peterson lived in Jonesboro his whole life and was going into the 9th grade. He was a member of Highland Drive Baptist Church.
“He cared deeply for his family and friends and found joy in music, especially being part of the band,” his obituary said.
Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 1, from noon to 2 p.m. at Highland Drive Baptist Church, located at 515 E. Highland Drive. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., with burial to follow at McDaniel Cemetery.
