Brookland, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 12, 2025 — A Brookland woman is being held on a $150,000 cash/surety bond after police said a traffic stop for a suspended license led to the discovery of meth in her car and paraphernalia at her home.
Judge David Boling found probable cause July 9 to charge the woman with possession of meth or cocaine less than two grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended license.
According to the affidavit, on July 2, Brookland police officer Kade Carder stopped a vehicle the woman was driving, whom he knew was driving on a suspended license. Dispatch confirmed she not only had a suspended license, but she also had previous traffic violations and a driving under the influence charge in 2024. The affidavit goes on to say the woman was under active supervision with a suspended sentence with a probation officer.
Carder asked the woman if there was anything in the car, to which she responded negatively and said that he was “free to search the vehicle if he liked.” Officers searched the vehicle, finding $3,783 in cash, along with a bag containing suspected meth under the driver’s seat.
The affidavit said the woman denied owning the meth, repeatedly saying, “I swear to God, that’s not mine.” In a Mirandized interview, she acknowledged the substance was meth but said “she was not taking a charge for anyone” and that it belonged to a Paragould man.
The woman was taken back to her home for a probation search, during which she mentioned to officers that the Paragould man had been staying with her and might have left some items behind. The search resulted in a glass bong with meth residue being found. The woman was arrested as a result.
Boling ordered that if the woman is released, she must wear a GPS ankle monitor.
The woman’s next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 21.
