Lake City, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — April 30, 2025 — A Lake City woman has been accused of attempting to run a person over with her car.
On April 27, an officer with the Lake City Police Department was sent to Elm Street regarding a woman, later identified as 77-year-old Letha Carr, who’d reportedly attempted to run over another person. Dispatch told the officer Carr had fled the scene.
Carr was later located on Elm Street by other officers responding to the area, after which she was detained. Officers then made contact with the victim, who said she and a man were walking on Elm Street with Carr saw them and reportedly attempted to run over them. The man recorded the incident on his phone.
According to the affidavit, the video showed Carr driving down Elm Street, then swerving over in an attempt to hit the female victim. Carr then turned the vehicle around and reportedly attempted to hit the victim again.
She then reportedly pulled up next to the victim and began revving the engine and yelling at the victim. In the video, Carr then said, “If I had a gun right now, I would shoot you right in the heart,” according to the affidavit.
Officers later learned Carr was after the victim because she believed the victim had stolen a firearm from her home, the affidavit said.
According to the affidavit, residents along Elm Street heard the incident, with one resident telling the officer he saw Carr’s vehicle “driving down the road at high speeds.” This resident added that when he went outside, two people were yelling at him to call the police. As he went back inside to do so, he said he heard the woman yelling at the victims, saying, “I’ll kill you.”
The incident was also captured on a resident’s doorbell camera, the affidavit said.
Carr is charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of terroristic threatening. She is to have no contact with the victims. Her bond was set at $35,000 cash or surety and her next court date is Aug. 1.
According to online jail records, Carr was released from the Craighead County Detention Center on April 29 at 9:52 a.m.
