Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Jan. 22, 2025 – A Jonesboro man was given a $500,000 bond after being accused of shooting a man during an attempted robbery.

On Jan. 14, Jonesboro police officers responded to the intersection of Harrisburg Road and the west Links Drive entrance regarding a man who’d been shot in the chest. When they arrived, officers found the victim inside a witness’s vehicle. The victim told officers he’d been shot, but he didn’t know by who.

Officers found a white passenger car in front of an apartment at the Links, which was running, unoccupied, had its flashers on, and had three of its doors open.

During their investigation, officers determined the victim had driven that car to its current location, and he’d been shot inside it by man in the back seat. The victim confirmed this in an interview with officers, according to the affidavit.

The victim told officers that a man in the back seat pulled a gun on him and his front seat passenger, saying he was going to rob them. The victim said he grabbed the gun from the man in a struggle, during which it went off and hit him in the chest. The witness and the victim then ran on foot.

Officers obtained video footage from the witness, which showed a man later identified as 22-year-old Keyon Minor, exiting his apartment and speaking on the phone just before the shooting. Officers also saw another witness leaving this apartment.

During an interview with police, this witness told officers they’d driven Minor from away from the complex shortly after the shooting, and that Minor “did admit to shooting [the] Victim after being picked up.” The witness then provided officers with a photo of Minor. Officers confirmed the suspect was Minor using prior JPD report and two online sources.

Judge Tommy Fowler signed a bench warrant for Minor’s arrest on Jan. 17, but he turned himself in to the Jonesboro Police Department on Jan. 21, according to the affidavit.

Minor is charged with one count of aggravated robbery, a Class Y felony, and one count of 1st degree battery, a Class B felony. He was given a $500,000 cash or surety bond.

If he makes bond, he is to have no contact with the victim and will be required to wear a GPS ankle monitor. His court date is set for Feb. 28 at 8:30 a.m.
