Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Jan. 8, 2025 – A Jonesboro man is accused of raping a former partner in early December.

Officers with the Jonesboro Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance on Dec. 5. Officers met with the victim, who said their ex-boyfriend, 35-year-old Carlton Davis, assaulted them.

The victim told officers they heard a knock at their door and answered it, believing it to be their friend. When they opened the door, Davis entered. While the victim was getting ready to go out for the night, Davis took their phone and accused them of “talking to other guys,” according to the probable cause affidavit.

When the victim tried to grab their phone back, Davis reportedly grabbed them by the throat and slammed them onto their bed, making it so they could not breathe. Eventually, Davis ran out of the house with the victim’s phone, and they chased after him.

Once the two were outside, Davis then reentered the home and helped the victim inside. He then reportedly backed the victim into their couch, causing them to fall. According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim was nude at the time due to having taken a bath earlier when Davis took their phone.

Davis reportedly made several possessive, sexually explicit statements to the victim, while the victim told him to stop. Davis then raped the victim, according to the probable cause affidavit.

After this, Davis told the victim to get dressed but allegedly refused to return their phone. The victim chased Davis trying to get their phone back, but he did not return it.

Davis then left the residence, and the victim told officers they tried to get their phone back again. Davis then reportedly pushed the victim into a ditch and began to leave, after which the victim ran to a neighbor for help.

After this, Davis returned the victim’s phone and left the area. The victim suffered bruises and scratches, as well as damage to their home, the probable cause affidavit said.

Judge David Boling signed an arrest warrant for Davis on Jan. 2, but he turned himself in at the Craighead County Detention Center on Jan. 5.

Davis was charged with one count of rape, one count of aggravated assault on a family or household member, one count of domestic battering, and one count of criminal mischief.

Davis appeared in court on Jan. 8 and was represented by attorney Zach Morrison. His bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety after an agreement between Morrison and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Charlene Henry. He was issued a no-contact order with the victim.

Davis’s next court date is Feb. 28 at 8:30 a.m. He is being held at the Craighead County Detention Center.
