Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Jan. 3, 2025 – A Trumann man who reportedly threw bags of meth out of a car after officers initiated a traffic stop on Friday was given a $150,000 cash or surety bond.

On Jan. 3, officers with the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of U.S. Highway 49 and County Road 928. As the vehicle turned left onto County Road 928, one of the officers noticed what appeared to be a large bag of meth tossed out of the passenger side of the car.

When the vehicle stopped, the officer began calling for the driver to exit the vehicle with his gun withdrawn. After the driver was out of the vehicle, the 43-year-old passenger was removed. Both were handcuffed with no incident.

The officer then went to the south side of County Road 928 to find the suspected bag of meth. The officer instead found two baggies with approximately 52.2 grams of meth between them.

During a Mirandized interview, the driver said the drugs did not belong to him and didn’t know if the passenger had any on him at the time of the stop. During his Mirandized interview, the passenger said he did not have any meth and did not toss it out of the window.

The passenger is charged with one count of possession of meth or cocaine with purpose to deliver, one count of tampering with physical evidence and one count of obstructing prosecution/defense felony.

He was given a $150,000 cash or surety bond and a court date of Jan. 24. If he makes bond, the passenger must wear a GPS ankle monitor. He is being held at the Craighead County Detention Center.
