The Frank & Barbara Broyles Foundation has proudly declared Phil Parker, Defensive Coordinator/Secondaries coach at the University of Iowa, as the distinguished recipient of the esteemed 2023 Broyles Award. This prestigious accolade, presented annually, acknowledges the most outstanding assistant college football coach in the nation.
The Broyles Award was created in 1996 recognizing Coach Frank Broyles’ legacy of selecting and developing great assistants during his hall of fame career as head coach at Arkansas.
The winner was announced at the Broyles Award ceremony on Tuesday, December 5, at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is the 28th assistant coach to receive the Broyles Award.
Parker’s exemplary coaching prowess earned him this honor, prevailing over a competitive roster of finalists including Mike Bobo from Georgia, Mike Denbrock from LSU, Sherrone Moore from Michigan, and Will Stein from Oregon. A selection committee composed of former hall of fame coaches, members of the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), and broadcasters meticulously evaluated each candidate before bestowing the honor upon Parker.
Sponsored by Oaklawn of Hot Springs, Arkansas, the Broyles Award is not just about celebrating coaching excellence but also serves a philanthropic purpose. Proceeds from the event contribute to the noble mission of the Broyles Foundation, which offers support, education, and resources to Alzheimer’s caregivers.
The Broyles Foundation actively engages with its audience through social media platforms, underscoring its commitment to raising awareness and support for Alzheimer’s caregiving.
