Jean Cole, a beacon of warmth and friendliness, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, in Jonesboro, AR, at the age of 83. Born on January 22, 1941, in Paragould, AR, to the late Dallas and Vada (Nesbitt) Souheaver, Jean’s life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and dedication to her family.

Jean’s journey through life was shared for 54 beautiful years with her beloved husband, Dewayne Cole, until his passing. Together, they created a legacy of love that continued to flourish through their children, grandchildren, and beyond. Jean was predeceased not only by her husband but also by her grandson Shane Avery, great-great-grandson Emitt Allread, and her siblings Franklin Souheaver, Margaret Roberts, Detta Lou Lovett, Virginia McDaniel, and Barbara Souheaver.

She is survived by her son, Johnny and his wife Tammy Cole of Paragould, and her loving daughters, Darla (Gary) Bye of Rector, Lisa (Joel) Kelsey of Fayetteville, and Michelle (Mark) Thomas of Rector. Jean’s joy was multiplied through her cherished grandchildren: Bridget Avery (Dusty), Jason Avery, Cole and Hannah Thomas, Katie and Chris Smith, Kara and Justin Hudson, Shae Kelsey, and Stacey Avery. Her legacy continued to blossom with her great-grandchildren: Catelyn and Brent Marshall, Avery Milliken (Madison), Aubreigh Milliken, Breona Avery (Jeremiah), Sawyer Davis, Lawson Avery, Hudson Avery, and Savvy Thomas, and Emmy Hudson. The family tree extended its branches to her great-great-grandchildren: Ryleigh Marshall, Harper Marshall, and Jay Allred.

Jean’s sister, Kay Smith of Oak Grove, sister-in-law Jean Crossno of Paragould, and her lifetime friend Ronnie Galyean of MI, also surviving her were her special nieces and nephews. Each of these individuals held a special place in Jean’s heart, and she cherished the unique bond she shared with each of them.

Jean’s life was marked by her love for simple pleasures. She found joy in the tranquility of fishing, the challenge of crossword puzzles, and the meticulous art of cross-stitching. Her laughter was a frequent and welcome sound when she was hanging out with her family, and her presence was a source of comfort and happiness to all who knew her.

Jean’s life will be honored and remembered in the hearts of her family and friends. Her spirit, a guiding light of love and laughter, will continue to shine brightly through the generations she has so profoundly impacted. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on forever.

In honor of Jean the public is asked to help celebrate her life by wearing red and black.
