Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Oct. 28, 2024 – A Jonesboro man shot a 16-year-old girl in the hip after a drug deal on Oct. 24, police said.

On Oct. 24, Jonesboro police were sent to NEA Hospital in reference to a gunshot wound. Officers identified the victim, who had a gunshot wound in her left hip. Another juvenile witness was with her at the hospital.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the two juveniles drove to a residence on Remington Drive, where they met with 19-year-old Camron Davis. While there, they purchased marijuana with fake money and drove off. Davis reportedly fired a gun toward them, with the bullet travelling through their vehicle and striking the victim.

Using information provided by the juvenile witness, officers identified Davis as the suspect and issued a bench warrant for his arrest. On Oct. 25, he was seen leaving his home, after which officers conducted a traffic stop. Upon placing him into custody, officers found a gun on his person which was reported stolen out of the Blytheville Police Department. He is currently being held at the Craighead County Detention Center.

Davis is charged with one count of first degree battery, one count of a terroristic act and one count of theft by receiving a firearm. He was given a court date of Dec. 17 at 8:30 a.m. and a bond of $225,000 cash or surety. Conditions of the bond include a no-contact order with the victim and an ankle monitor.
