Little Rock, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – October 11, 2024 – The Arkansas State Police Commission has promoted Cpl. Todd Harris to the rank of Sergeant in Troop E.

Troop E serves Jefferson, Arkansas, Lincoln, and Desha counties. The troop includes the Pine Bluff community.

Harris graduated from Greene County Tech High School in 1989 and joined the United States Marine Corps. He was deployed to Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Upon returning home from the Marine Corps, he went to work for the family business, Harris Construction for a short time. He was able to start his career in law enforcement when he became Constable of the Poland township in Finch in 1995. He was hired by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department in January 1997 as a deputy. In March of 1998, he became a trooper with the Arkansas State Police.

After serving six years with the State Police, Todd decided to take a break from law enforcement. He returned overseas to Afghanistan, in a private capacity, serving 5 years as a firearms instructor, Risk Management Consultant and personal bodyguard for various people of interest and entities associated with that campaign.

He returned to the Arkansas State Police in Sept 2014.

His love of the community has drawn him to branch out as a coach for the Greene County Tech High School Swim Team, and a member of the Greene County Fair Board, to name a few. His actions in various crashes and enforcement capacities has earned him multiple awards to include Official Commendations, Lifesaving Awards, the Green Cross Award from Hurst and community-based awards.

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge hosted the 20th annual Officer of the Year awards and recognition luncheon at the Benton Event Center in December 2022, where she honored Arkansas State Police Cpl. Todd Harris as the Greene County Officer of the Year.
