With a variety of indoor attractions and outdoor adventures in and around Jonesboro, here is a list of engaging summer activities to help you make the most of the season:
Arts and Entertainment
Foundation of Arts (FOA):
Operating out of downtown Jonesboro, this nonprofit offers year-round community enrichment through arts education, live entertainment, and community outreach for people of all ages. The FOA is in the Forum Theater, located at 115 E. Monroe Ave. Other FOA buildings include the Arts Center at 328 S. Main St. and Stage, Too at 330 S. Main St. Business hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Stage, Too also offers free weekend programming, which features live music and black box style productions on Thursday through Saturday from 6-10 p.m. For more information, click here.
Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library:
Located at 315 W. Oak Ave., the library provides visitors with a large catalog of books, media and reference materials for all ages. It also has a digital library complete with eBooks, audiobooks, and digital magazines. The library also hosts a variety of free events and activities for both children and adults, from game days to book clubs to yoga.
It is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., and is closed Sundays. For more information, click here.
Arkansas State University Museum:
Located at 320 University Loop West, the museum is free and offers visitors a chance to explore interactive exhibits on regional history and culture through tours, suitcase exhibits, and hands-on STEM-based activities. Featuring permanent, online and temporary exhibits, visitors can see things like the Crowley’s Ridge Mastodon, the Natural History Gallery, the Native American Gallery, Old Town Arkansas, Living Off the Land, the Military Gallery, Rockabilly: The Northeast Arkansas Story and more.

Bradbury Art Museum:
A contemporary art museum located at 201 Olympic Drive on the A-State campus. In addition to its five gallery spaces, the Bradbury Art Museum is home to BAM Studio, an arts education space where year-round workshops are offered for visitors and community members. It also hosts the annual Delta National Small Prints Exhibition (DNSPE), which attracts artists from across the country and world. Admission is free.
Gallery hours are 12-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, however it is closed between exhibitions and when campus is closed. For more information, click here.
State Parks and Nature Centers
Forrest L. Wood Crowley’s Ridge Nature Center:
The center, located at 600 E. Lawson Road, holds indoor and outdoor exhibits, films and trails and more. The three-story Arkansas Game and Fish Commission facility holds more than 30 live native wildlife species scattered through the center in aquariums and terrariums, a hands-on exhibit hall, an auditorium, and more.
The center has trails across 160 acres and runs along the southern boundary of Craighead Forest Park. In addition, the nature center also offers self-guided activities, educational classes and training. Admission is free. Lake Frierson State Park:
Located on the shores of Lake Frierson, the Lake Frierson State Park offers a variety of year-round of activities and events, from fishing and hiking, to boating and kayaking, to educational programs. It features campsites, picnic sites, a pavilion, playground, hiking trails, a launch ramp, and fishing piers. The visitor center includes nature exhibits and a bait shop with fishing boats and kayaks are available for rent.

City Parks
Craighead Forest Park:
Located at 4910 South Culberhouse Road, the park has 692 acres containing recreation and relaxation areas. It features pavilions, picnic areas and grills, as well as basketball, biking and running trails, bird watching, tent and RV camping, fishing, playgrounds, softball, volleyball and a splash pad. The splash pad is open May 27 to Aug. 13, with the hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Harold Perrin Miracle League Park:
This park, located at 5000 S. Caraway Road, has a rubberized ball field for children and adults with physical disabilities. The facility also has a playground with 28 different pieces of handicap-accessible equipment and calming amenities for children and adults.
It also has a concession stand, restrooms, and a quiet room for children experiencing sensory overload. The park’s field can be used for baseball, soccer, basketball, flag football, and more.

City Pools/Community Centers
Jonesboro City Pool and Youth Center:
Located the at 1421 W. Nettleton Ave. It features both a full-sized swimming pool and a smaller kiddie pool. The youth center also features a basketball/volleyball court, an indoor turf field, and a community room.
The rental cost for the community room, basketball/volleyball court, and indoor turf field are all $40 per hour. Summer pool hours, which run from May 27 to Aug. 13, will be 1-6 p.m. daily. The admission price is $6 for anyone 16+ and $4 for senior citizens (55+) and youth 15 and under. All youth must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older.
Parker Park Community Center and Pool:
Located at 1506 N Church St., the center has a zero-entry, water features, a slide, and more. Summer pool hours, which run from May 27 to Aug. 13, will be 1-6 p.m. daily.
The admission price is $6 for anyone 16+ and $4 for senior citizens (55+) and youth 15 and under. All youth must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. The community center also features two basketball courts or three volleyball courts, a community room and a kitchen inside, as well as a pavilion and playground outside.

Sports Complexes
Jonesboro Shooting Sports Complex:
The complex offers shooters and archers a place to practice. It has a 200-yard rifle range, a 50-yard pistol range, nine trap fields with three skeet overlayed fields, 20 target 3D archery ranges, and a standard bagged archery range up to 70 yards. It’s located at 3702 Moore Road.
Joe Mack Campbell Sports Complex:
Located at 3021 Dan Ave., the complex features 10 artificial turf youth baseball fields, 19 soccer fields in multi-use sizes, four baseball fields, a concession stand, two pavilions, picnic tables, a playground, a tennis court and a walking track.
Southside Softball Complex:
With entrances on South Caraway and South Stadium, the complex, located at 5003 S. Stadium Blvd., is home to many premiere tournaments throughout the year, including the Mt. Dew Grand Slam Classic. This facility has ten lighted playing fields for both youth and adult leagues, which are available for rental. It features two concession stands, six batting cages and four pavilions. There is a small charge to use the fields.
