The City of Jonesboro on Wednesday held a public meeting to provide information as it seeks $5 million in RAISE Planning Grant Funding.
“This is the first step in that park to make it all-inclusive,” Danny Kapales said. “People with all different needs can get on the playground.”
The City Council voted 11-0 to condemn the old Citizens Bank building on Tuesday.
The Quroum Court members approved the appropriation ordinance to establish 2025 rates of taxation and discussed what to do with remaining ARPA funds. These funds must be obligated to a project or projects by the end of the year.
On the agenda is a resolution to condemn the old Citizens Bank building. Condemning the building would allow for its demolition.
The governor says almost 23% of SNAP purchases are junk food, paid for with taxpayers money.
The Finance and Administration Council Committee discussed reapplying for RAISE Grant funding on Tuesday, which would see Jonesboro, Paragould and Brookland partner to expand “regional connectivity” between the cities.
The Quorum Court approved an appropriation ordinance for the Craighead County 2025 annual operating budget on Monday, with the budget coming in at just over $71 million.
The City of Jonesboro received a $500,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) that will retrofit the Marion Berry Parkway overpass with more pedestrian and cyclist accommodations.
“It’s humbling from a community that I love so much,” Copenhaver said. “I must say it was a lot more stressful than I ever anticipated, but it’s well worth the outcome.”
