
Jonesboro mayoral candidates set for a two-hour debate Monday night

Project costs have decreased by $3.2 million, and it is expected to break ground in early 2025.

Members of the Public Services Committee meet Thursday afternoon to discuss two resolutions about a new park near Disciple Drive in the northeastern area of Jonesboro.

City Council unanimously passed a last-minute resolution declaring an emergency and authorizing the mayor to allocate funds to construct “reasonable public protection structures” on properties near the old Citizens Bank building.

A rezoning ordinance on its second reading prompted public outcry in Thursday’s City Council meeting.

Jonesboro Mayor Harold Copenhaver has been named the 2024 Mayor of the Year by the Arkansas Association of Chiefs of Police.
