Numerous Northeast Arkansas legislators, including those representing Jonesboro and Craighead County, were named to state Senate and House committees yesterday as the 2025 legislative session began:

The City of Jonesboro has been awarded a $1.5 million grant from the Federal Railroad Administration to study all 18 at-grade rail crossings located within the city.
Even though JET is closing early, this will not affect those needing transportation to the daytime and overnight warming shelters. The Jonesboro Police Department will be providing rides to the warming shelters.
With snow blanketing Jonesboro, several local entities have announced closures and are rescheduling events.
Governmental offices for both the City of Jonesboro and Craighead County are closed today due to the wintry weather, and JETS will be operating under limited hours.
In preparation for the forecasted snowstorm, the City of Jonesboro has implemented inclement weather procedures, with involvement from the Streets Department, Police and Fire Departments, Salvation Army and more.
The Jonesboro Street Department has been preparing all week for the upcoming wintery weather. “We’ll work on them until the snowstorm stops,” said Jonesboro Street Director Steve Tippitt.
The $84 million operating budget for the City of Jonesboro passed the City Council on Tuesday.
