Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 27, 2024 – The man who threatened the Brookland School District has been charged with eight felonies and one misdemeanor related to the incident.
19-year-old Logan Jones, of Pocahontas, has been charged with one count of making a terroristic threat, five counts of 1st degree terroristic threatening, one count of threatening to commit acts of mass violence on school property, one count of stalking, and one count of harassing communications.
He was given a court date of Oct. 28 at 8:30 a.m. and a bond of $1 million c/s. Conditions of the bond are no contact with the victims and all of Brookland Public School property, a GPS ankle monitor, and no weapons/firearms.
On Wednesday, a Jonesboro police officer was contacted by a Brookland school resource officer, where they were informed of a threat. En route, the officer learned Brookland School District was placed on lockdown.
Upon arrival, the school resource officer told Jonesboro police a man made threats to “shoot up” Brookland School and had made threats to kill one of the students. The Jonesboro officer then made contact with the victim and her mother.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Jones made multiple threats to the victim after they broke up.
Jones and the victim had been in a relationship for nine months, in which the victim said he became “toxic” and “controlling.” After their breakup, Jones reportedly called and texted the victim repeatedly, to the point that the victim blocked his number. Regardless, the victim said Jones continued to contact her from “blocked and/or different numbers 300-400 times” and “texted her too many times to count.”
On Sept. 24, Jones began texting the victim again, to which the victim did not respond. At approximately 1:45 p.m., Jones reportedly told the victim he was outside the school and sent photos of the Brookland Junior High School and parking lot. Around 4:16 he texted again, stating “Answer,” followed by “Or I’ll kill you.”
Around 4:30 p.m., Jones reportedly sent “Answer the f****** phone or I’ll come shoot up your school,” followed by “And I’ll kill your f****** family.”
While the Jonesboro officer was speaking with the victim and her mother, Pocahontas police located Jones at Pocahontas Public Schools and took him into custody.
The incident report from Pocahontas states Jones made threats to both the victim and the Brookland School District and that he used the application TextNow to change his phone number.
After obtaining a search warrant on Jones’s phone, officers determined from 9:13 a.m. to 10:19 a.m., he called the victim 250 times by phone and three times by TextFree audio. No further or ongoing threats were determined.
