Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 13, 2024 – A Jonesboro police officer was dispatched to Stadium View apartments at 2508 E Johnson Avenue Wednesday afternoon in response to a man reportedly “armed with a machete and trying to burn the building down.”
20-year-old David Kibambe was reportedly hitting a machete against the ground. He also allegedly had a lighter and rubbing alcohol on him, and was attempting to enter a room where he kept a pile of papers to light on fire.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Kibambe said he was “trying to burn the building down with him in it to go to a better place.” When victims on scene asked Kibambe about other people in the apartments, he said he wasn’t concerned about anyone else in the building.
Listed charges on the report are aggravated assault, 1st degree terroristic threatening, threatening to commit suicide, and arson.
Kibambe was given a court date of Oct 28 at 8:30 a.m. and a bond of $7,500 c/s. Conditions of the bond include a mental health screening.
