Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Nov. 13, 2024 – The superintendent of Jonesboro Public Schools, Dr. Kim Wilbanks, announced she was retiring at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

She formally notified the school board at its November meeting. Wilbanks’ retirement will be effective June 30, 2025. She’s worked with the Jonesboro Public Schools for 19 years.

In a news release issued Wednesday morning, Wilbanks said she was announcing her retirement early to allow the district ample time to find a replacement and to “ensure a smooth transition.”

“On both a personal and professional level, it has been an incredible privilege to be part of the Jonesboro School District,” Wilbanks said in the news release. “Both of my daughters graduated from this district, and my oldest grandson is currently attending the Jonesboro Kindergarten Center. The exceptional education they received from our dedicated faculty and staff was truly a gift, and I am proud to know that every student who walks through our doors continues to receive that same high-quality experience.”

Wilbanks makes $201,693.12 a year.
