Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — May 21, 2025 — Open Studio and the Field and Light Design Co. will host their first-ever Gee Street Art and Craft Fair at the end of May.

This free event will feature handmade art and crafts from local artisans, as well as demonstrations, vendors, food trucks and more. This will be Open Studio owner Lean Schroeder’s first time hosting an art event in Arkansas since she opened her business Jan. 8.

She said used to host art fairs when she lived in Indiana and wanted to bring that to Jonesboro.

“After talking to some local makers, I thought since we have this great parking lot and an extra lot behind us, we have the space and it would be really fun to bring some more attention to Gee Street and host our own art and craft fair,” said Open Studio owner Leah Schroeder.

In addition to the 30 vendors and two food trucks outside, there will also be a number of demonstrations inside and a kids’ craft table.

“We have a wheel throwing in our wheel throwing room, so we’re going to have somebody throwing on the pottery wheel. We also are going to have a screen printing set up where people can come and screen print the Gee Street Art and Craft Fair logo,” Schroeder said. “Elizabeth [Hoke] from Generations Floral Company, she’s going to be doing some flower arranging in the building. We have someone who’s going to be airbrushing and painting T-shirts. We also have a raku firing going on outside. A raku is an indigenous type of pit firing pottery.”

According to Schroeder, the reception for the event has been great and they are excited to see who goes. If everything goes well, Schroeder said she’d like to do a Christmas Market and have two markets a year.

“This is a maker, crafter, artist event so everything has been made by the vendors, which is really important,” Schroeder said. “We’re doing specifically a maker market. We want to focus on the making aspect because there’s a lot of makers in the area and celebrate that.”

The festival will be held Saturday, May 31, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 304 S. Gee St. Parking for the event will be across the road in the Native Brew Works parking lot.
