Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 2, 2024 – For the past two years at the NEA Baptist Charitable Foundation Duck Classic, one individual has struck gold not once, but twice. Gary Chavers’ name has been drawn four times over the last two years to win four of the event’s six top prizes.

This year, the post-Duck Classic chatter took an altruistic turn. Reggie, representing the Chavers family, made a heartfelt announcement: they wanted to donate the truck to a local high school student. After months of brainstorming just how to do this, they settled on a solution—a unique essay contest.

Teachers and counselors from several local schools submitted heartfelt letters of nomination for students who they felt were deserving. After careful consideration, the Chavers family selected an FFA student from Valley View as the lucky recipient.

The “winning” nomination letter came from Josh’s Senior English teacher, Holly Cockrell, who wrote an essay detailing his kindness and deserving nature. She noted that Josh is “the definition of hard-working.” She went on to say that he is in Advanced Mechanics and Agri Leadership classes and is determined to become a welder.

The big reveal was set for Thursday at 1 pm in front of Valley View High School where Josh Milton received the surprise of a lifetime. Josh’s family and hundreds of students and Valley View staff were present to congratulate him.

This generous gift could not have been made possible without the support of partners like Kim Provost and Rhonda Parker from the NEA Baptist Clinic Charitable Foundation along with Danny Ford from Glen Sain Motors and crews from DNW Automotive and CWC Mechanical. Glen Sain generously donated the truck while DNW adds the finishing touches with accessories and equipment, ensuring the gift is both practical and memorable.

As an added bonus Buddie Hardcastle, representing the Jordan’s Kwik Stops, presented Josh with up to three months’ worth of fuel — $500 in gasoline.

With a tear in his eye, Josh took the keys to his new ride and sat in the driver seat, eager to take it for a spin.
