Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – April 14, 2024 – The Wynne School District has issued a statement regarding a fatal accident that injured a student on the way to her high school prom.

Cathy Wagner was killed in a wreck in Wynne while transporting a student to prom at the Delta Gin venue, according to radio station KWYN. The accident happened at the intersection of US 64 and 64B. The student passenger was taken to CrossRidge Community Hospital and then airlifted to The Med according to KWYN. Another driver in the accident was also injured.

The statement from the school district was posted to its Facebook page.

“The Wynne School District extends our solidarity and support to a member of our student body who was involved in a car wreck on their way to prom last night. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their family during this challenging time. As a school family, we are united in offering our unwavering support.

Additionally, we extend our deepest condolences and support to our city, which faced a separate tragic event last night. Standing with our community, we offer sympathy and assistance to all those affected. In moments of adversity, it is essential that the strength and compassion of our Wynne community shines through.
