Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 12, 2024 – Jonesboro Police responded to a shots fired call on Melrose Street around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the probable cause affidavit, 34-year-old Mia Colley and her boyfriend, the 29-year-old victim, had been arguing earlier. The victim said he left their house and went to a friend’s house, where Colley started beating on the windows before leaving.
The probable cause affidavit states the victim returned home, where Colley reportedly busted down the victim’s door with her shoulder. The victim said after the door was down, Colley began shooting at him.
Officers on scene found shell casings at Melrose. Other officers found Colley parked at some apartments on Bridge Street, where she was contacted and arrested.
While searching Colley’s car, officers found a box of bullets under the driver’s side of the car, although they did not find a gun. The car reportedly smelled strongly of marijuana, and a half-smoked blunt lay beside the driver’s seat.
Colley was transported to the police department, where she reportedly told officers she threw the gun out of the window near Belt Street. She also reportedly denied shooting at the victim. She was then transported to Craighead County Detention Center, where she was charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member.
Colley was given a $50,000 c/s bond and a court date of Oct. 28 at 8:30 a.m.
