Jonesboro, AR (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 17, 2024 – A traffic stop around 10 a.m. on Saturday revealed drugs, a gun and cash.
Jonesboro police issued a traffic stop around E. Johnson Avenue and Pierce Drive. Upon running the license, the vehicle was shown to have unconfirmed insurance.
Reportedly, the officer smelled burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Before a probable cause search of the vehicle, the officer asked the driver if there was anything illegal inside. The driver told the officer there may be four grams of marijuana.
The officer searched the car and seized a backpack, which had a handgun with a loaded magazine, and two plastic baggies containing 16 and seven grams of marijuana, respectively.
The backpack also reportedly contained digital scales with marijuana residue on them. The officer also seized a package in the vehicle with three grams of marijuana, along with over $500.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.
Listed charges on the report are possession of a Schedule VI with purpose to deliver, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, and no proof of liability insurance.
The driver was given a court date of Oct. 30 at 8:30 a.m. and a bond of $200,000 c/s.
