Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – June 10, 2024 – Peanuts and fists were flying at the Mountain Dew Grand Slam Classic this weekend.

Police were called to the Southside Softball Complex after a group of softball fans from Missouri started fighting during one of the games.

A man and his wife were watching their daughter play when they became annoyed that a family sitting in the stands nearby were throwing peanut shells on the ground.

The man told the peanut-eaters that there was a player on their team that was highly allergic to peanuts, and he asked them if they’d stop tossing shells.

There was some mouthing back-and-forth after that request, according to the police report, followed by name-calling, cussing and then, pushing and punching.

The police report called this a “mutual combat incident”, with all persons involved contributing.

No one was seriously hurt, but witnesses on the scene told officers that one of the women in the fight purposely “ripped her own finger nail off in an attempt to make herself look injured.”
