Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Feb. 28, 2025 – Herren began in 1968 with a one-bay garage and a concrete slab with Ivey’s grandfather Auslee Herren.
As they began to grow the business seemed to be bigger than used tires and retreads, Auslee quickly realized in 1983 that he needed a bigger building to operate out of. However, that same year Auslee died.
In 1983 Ivey Herren Sr. grew the new three-bay garage into a 10-bay shop in a few years. In 2003 Ivey Sr. expanded and built a big truck and tractor shop to begin servicing more than just passenger vehicles.
The business continued to grow into an 18-employee operation and serviced a good portion of Northeast Arkansas.
However, we don’t want to tell you about our history and leave even the difficult parts out. Ivey Herren Jr. began a struggle in his teenage years and lived in that fog for 12 years which certainly had not positioned himself to take over the family-owned business when the duty called.
Ivey Herren Sr. was diagnosed with cancer and began his fight against it, but he died on July 30, 2020.
After Ivey Sr.’s passing, Randy Ware took over as General Manager of Herren Tire. Meanwhile, done with a life of addiction and shame Ivey Herren Jr. decided to get help and on Dec. 26, 2021, Ivey graduated John 316 Ministries.
Free from the pains of the past Ivey Herren Jr. was (barely) hired back at Herren Tire, as a Tire Tech. As he began to rebuild trust, honor, and character with the employee staff Ivey found his way back to the sales counter.
Ivey began to surrender his life to his faith and the hopes it could provide and began to walk as a transformed person. With a new unwavering faith and proper mentorship, Ivey Herren Jr. worked his way to Vice President.
In May 2023, Herren Tire purchased Broken Spoke, and it became Herren Tire West. Randy Ware has overtaken operations at the newly purchased location, and we are thankful for Herren West and the blessing it has been to have our business on both sides of our growing community.
We are excited to announce we have purchased property in another growing community, and we are coming soon to bring Herren Tire’s locally owned and faith-driven way of doing business to the wonderful town of Brookland. A special thank you to everyone who has been welcoming and helpful with this move.
We felt it important today to know who you are doing business with or could have the opportunity to do business with. When you walk into our stores you are not feeding a corporate giant, you’re fueling your local economy.
To our customers that do business with us, thank you, to the wonderful people we haven’t had the chance to meet yet, we are excited to do so. We are thankful to be growing and proud to serve you in any way we can.
