Monette- Vicki Lynn Woodsmall Hickman was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, in 1952, to the late L. E. (Pete) and Leta Ward Woodsmall. She passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the age of 71.
She was raised in Delfore, Monette, and Caraway areas, attending the Childress and Monette schools before moving to Caraway, graduating there in 1970.
After marrying, she lived in Jackson,TN, later moving to Jonesboro where she worked at Walker Manufacturing. There she was encouraged to become a computer programmer and began her training. Vicki eventually moved to Little Rock and Ft. Smith, working with Arkansas Systems, Inc. She later transferred to Fayetteville where she had several clients who used her expertise in programming.
Vicki was proceeded in death by her sister Carolyn Jo Woodsmall Ball and beloved niece, Lisa Henry Pittman.
She is survived by her two sons: Mark (Karlee) Hickman of Memphis, TN, and Matthew Hickman of Fayetteville, AR; her loving grandchildren: Lily and Levi Hickman of Fayetteville, and Molly, Ingrid, and Clara Hickman of Memphis;two sisters: Pat Hawkins of Monette and Betty Rains of Heber Springs, her extended family , and five close life-long friends, Donna Cooper, Johnice Cross, Rhonda Dickherber, Belinda Hansen and Kathy Sparks.
Vicki had a great love for travel, spending time with her sisters and friends, playing many hours of cards and enjoying fellowship. Her compassionate, caring attitude endeared her to everyone lucky enough to know her. She showed great strength in raising her two boys alone and the sacrifices it took. She had a great love of music and would teach anyone who would listen. Her smiles and her laughter brightened a room.
Services will be Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Monette Church of Christ. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral following at 11:00 a.m. Jimmy Adcox of Southwest Church of Christ in Jonesboro will officiate. Service will be under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home. Burial will be at Monette Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chett Hickman, John Austin Bordeaux, Danny Finch, Garry Fletcher, John Jarvis, and Alan Cooper.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Henry, Danny Dunigan, Eddie Dunigan, Brett Hickman, the class of 1970 Caraway High School and the class of 1970 Monette High School.
