Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 20, 2024 – A Jonesboro man was arrested this weekend for a long list of charges including aggravated assault, fleeing, obstructing governmental operations, running a stop sign, improper turn, possession of schedule VI, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to JPD, Officer M. Isom observed a silver Chevrolet Camaro fail to stop at a stop sign. Officers then observed the vehicle fail to signal within 100 feet before turning, and did not display visible headlights or taillights. Officer Isom initiated a traffic stop and could smell marijuana upon contact with the driver who was identified as 19-year-old Stacy Cooper.

Officer Isom instructed Cooper to exit the vehicle multiple times at which time Copper refused to exit the vehicle. Cooper then put the vehicle in gear at which time Officer Isom grabbed him. Cooper continued to operate the vehicle, driving through yards in a dangerous manner, while Officer Isom was hanging out of the vehicle.

Officer Isom was thrown from the vehicle at that time. Officers pursued Cooper as Cooper fled at a high rate of speed.

Officer lost sight of Cooper but was able to track the body camera of Isom that had fallen in the vehicle during the struggle.

Upon locating the vehicle in Trumann, the vehicle was inventoried prior to being towed. Jonesboro Officers discovered and seized marijuana in a glass jar.

Cooper was arrested and transported to the Craighead County Detention Center where he was given a $75,000 bond.
