Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — June 6, 2025 — The Valley View School District announced it will be opening the new Valley View Middle School this fall.

Valley View Public Schools superintendent Roland Popejoy said on Friday the creation of the Valley View Middle School was a result of the district’s reviewing existing programs to find ways to better meet the needs of students and the community. The district announced the change May 28.

Valley View Intermediate School, which previously served students in grades three through six, will now serve students in the third and fourth grades, while the middle school will serve students in the fifth and sixth grades.

“There will not be a new building constructed for the VV Middle School as this new school is a result of our district reconfiguring grades five and six to implement middle school programming, which will provide our students the opportunity for enhanced learning experiences in the years to come,” Popejoy said. “Even more opportunities for new elective classes, exposure to additional career exploration, and acceleration opportunities are in the works for our future VV Middle School students.”

The 27,600 square foot addition and 7,600 square foot renovation of the Intermediate building, completed this past school year, made this reconfiguration possible through the additional space available. The reconfigured buildings will open in August, in time for the 2025-26 school year.

Brad Davis will serve as principal of the middle school and Ryan Fletcher will be assistant principal.

Popejoy said the House System, initiated last school year, will continue for both the intermediate and the middle school.

“The two schools will be considered sister schools and students from both schools will continue to be sorted into one of the eight houses to build on the excitement of this program that fosters teamwork as well as character and leadership development,” he said. “I look forward to observing the impact that this reconfiguration will have on our students in the years to come through the expanded opportunities to learn and showcase the many talents, skills and abilities our students possess.”
