Arkansas State Police, Bay Police Department, and Craighead County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident with injury and entrapment Monday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 463 and Highway 158 near the Bay exit off I555.
Upon arrival, officers located one vehicle in the ditch on the north side of 463 and one vehicle still in the roadway, both with extreme damage.
The Arkansas Department of Public Safety released their Fatal Crash Summary late Monday night, including the identities of both drivers. ASP Cpl Aaron Morphis reported that Brenda Branch, 62 of Trumann was traveling southbound on Hwy 463 when she crossed the center line and struck Troy Helms, 70 of Trumann, head on as he was traveling northbound on Hwy 463.
Branch was pronounced deceased at the scene. Helms was transported to NEA Baptist. No other passengers were present in either vehicle.
