Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Nov. 19, 2024 – Over the weekend, Jonesboro police responded to a theft in progress at a retail store at the Mall at Turtle Creek.
While officers were on the way, they learned that two suspects had left the business and were in a black car with Tennessee tags. Arkansas State Police was also made aware of the vehicle because of the possibility of the men traveling back to Tennessee.
Officers arrived at the business and reviewed security footage of the incident. They saw a male suspect standing near the purse section. He could be seen on video removing security tags from the purses and walking out of the store with the items. Another male suspect walked out of the store behind him, carrying a large amount of clothing.
While the officers were still at the store, they learned that state police had conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. The stolen property was in the back seat. Both suspects were arrested and are being held at the Craighead County Detention Center. Officers were notified from the business that the total amount of stolen property was $5,880.
In their probable cause hearings, both men were charged with shoplifting greater than $5,000, both were given a bond of $150,000 and both are due back in court on Dec. 17.
