Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — March 6, 2025 — Two people from Jonesboro face drug trafficking and possession charges after police said they found nearly 500 grams of drugs and paraphernalia in their hotel room.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on March 2, Jonesboro Police Officer Cameron Kelemen and other officers went to Comfort Inn on Phillips Drive to meet 41-year-old Raymond Lee Roedel who was staying at the hotel.
Once officers were inside his room, they noticed drug paraphernalia and a small bag of meth, and Roedel was taken into custody. Officer Keleman also found a cellphone bag in Roedel’s left pocket containing meth and another bag with 3.1 grams of marijuana.
While searching the room, officers found multiple cellophane bags, one of which contained 230 grams of marijuana, a makeshift meth bong, and a digital scale with meth residue on it.
The affidavit stated that officers then found a black safe sitting behind the curtains. Roedel and a 36-year-old woman staying in the hotel with Roedel said the safe belonged to her.
Agent Chris Jefferson presented a search warrant with the 2nd Judicial Task Force to Craighead County Judge David Boling, who approved the warrant.
While continuing to search Roedel, Kelemen found two more cellophane bags containing meth and two black keys for the safe. Once inside, officers found a silver tin containing 260 grams of meth and a gold digital scale.
On March 5, Boling found probable cause to charge Roedel and the woman with trafficking of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of Schedule VI substance with the purpose to deliver. Roedel was given a $150,000 cash/surety bond while the woman was given a $25,000 cash/surety bond.
Roedel and the woman are being held at the Craighead County Detention Center awaiting their next court appearance on April 24.
