According to the probable cause affidavit, Jonesboro police responded to an aggravated residential burglary in progress on Hester Street on Sept. 28. Officers made contact with the victim, who had actively bleeding wounds on both sides of her mouth and swollen lips that were beginning to bruise.
The victim told police that Whitney had entered her home without permission and assaulted her. Investigators determined Whitney forced entry into the first-floor home by breaking a window.
The victim said she was in the shower when she noticed Whitney walking down the hallway. According to the affidavit, he asked, “Hey baby, are you happy to see me?” with a “demented” facial expression that caused her to fear for her safety and well-being.
After the victim instructed someone to call 911, Whitney became irate and struck her in the face twice, causing injury, the affidavit said. Whitney then walked out of the bedroom, and the victim closed the door behind him. Whitney forced his way back into the room, completely destroying the door in the process, the affidavit said.
On Sept. 30, officers were dispatched to the home again after the victim reported Whitney was banging on the garage and front doors while attempting to force his way inside.
Whitney was arrested on Oct. 4. He is currently being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $175,000 cash/surety bond and is required to wear a GPS ankle monitor as a condition of his release. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 23.
