Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow) – Sept. 10, 2024 – Jonesboro police found a large amount of cash, drugs, and multiple handguns during a traffic stop on Friday around 1 pm.
According to the report, officers observed a man carrying a pistol with an extended magazine under his arm. The man carrying the weapon and three other men reportedly entered the car, which had “very dark window tint.”
After running the tag, which returned with unconfirmed insurance, officers initiated a traffic stop. When making contact with the occupants, officers reportedly smelled marijuana from the vehicle.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the vehicle search revealed 43 grams of a “green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana” behind the radio in the dash, three loaded handguns with rounds in the chamber, two of which were reported stolen from the city of Jonesboro, and approximately $1200.
Two 19-year-olds, an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested and transported to Craighead County Detention Center.
Listed charges on the report include simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance with purpose to deliver, theft by receiving a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper tint, and no proof of liability insurance.
The arrestees’ court date is set for October 30 at 8:30 a.m.
