Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Jan. 6, 2025 – Jonesboro police found methamphetamine and vapes during a traffic stop on Friday.
A JPD officer observed a car traveling on Greensboro Road with unconfirmed insurance. He conducted a traffic stop near the Greensboro Road and Mays Road intersection. During the stop, another JPD officer with a K9 arrived and the occupants were removed from the vehicle.
It was determined that the vehicle’s passenger had a felony warrant out of Greene County, and she was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center for the warrant. She was not charged with violations related to the traffic stop.
The K9 alerted after an exterior sniff of the vehicle. While searching the vehicle, officers found a backpack with various vape supplies, as well as two syringes preloaded with suspected meth. Officers took the 33-year-old driver into custody and began a search of his person, and he complied. An officer discovered a vape on his person similar to those found in the backpack.
When the officer checked the driver’s groin area and felt something concealed in the area, the driver reportedly became defiant and resisted the search. Officers pinned the driver to the ground while they waited for another officer to arrive to safely continue the search.
After another officer arrived, the driver was safely searched, and they found a baggie of 7.7 grams of suspected meth concealed in the driver’s groin area.
The driver was charged with one count of possession of meth or cocaine greater than two grams but less than 10 grams, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, one count of resisting arrest and one count of no proof of liability insurance.
He was given a $35,000 cash or surety bond and a court date of Feb. 28. He is being held at the Craighead County Detention Center.
