Thomas Joseph Mondy, 73, of Pocahontas went to his heavenly home surrounded by his loved ones on July 11, 2024, at his home. He was born in Pocahontas on August 1, 1950, to Robert Mondy and Loyola “Lee” Thielemier Mondy.

After living away for a while, he returned home to be close to family and raise his children. Tom was passionate about his wife’s cooking and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a beloved Papa. They were his greatest achievement. Tom enjoyed big family events. The more the merrier. Tom was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, and sit on his front porch swing. Tom was a friend to everyone he met and loved to be around people. He will be missed by all of those who know him.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents a sister Mary Kay Roundtree, a brother Rob Mondy, and his first wife Carol Sue Herbert Mondy.

He leaves behind his wife Nancy of the home and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by his children Jessica (Travis) Alphin, Matthew (Jamie) Mondy, Heather Elliott, and Sherry (Ricky) Clark, Barbara Ann Bledsoe, and Jason Wayne Bledsoe. Grandchildren include Abby Alphin, Mikey Alphin, Ryan Elliott, Tyler (Ashley) Elliott, Danielle (Austin) Jordan, Taylor (Tara) Clark, Alexandra (Mycheal) Clark, Corey Mondy, Aydan Mondy, Alyssa Granier, Jaslyn Bledsoe, Addie Granier, Andrew Granier, and Jason Jr. Blesdsoe. Great grandchildren Hollynn and Hazel Elliott, Charlie and Delilah Jordan, and Delilah Bledsoe. Tom came from a very large family including many children. Siblings include Pat Mondy, Jim (Janie) Mondy, Larry (Patti) Mondy, Paul (Sallee) Mondy, and Jane Lee (Marc) Moss. Tom had a very large extended family and many, many close friends that he considered family.

Memorial visitation will be held 2:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday, July 14, 2024, with the service beginning at 4:00 PM with Jeff Hamm officiating.  All services will be held in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel.

Honorary pallbearers include Jim Mondy, Pat Mondy, Larry Mondy, and Paul Mondy.
