Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – June 26, 2024 – Jonesboro Police responded to a vehicle break-in on Tuesday that could have been a lot worse than it was.

Officers were dispatched to Allis Street regarding a 46-year-old man who had parked his truck in his driveway. He took the key out of the ignition but left it lying in the center console and left the door unlocked. He told officers he usually goes out and gets the key before going to bed, but he forgot this time.

The next morning, when he came out to the vehicle, he saw that someone had gotten into the truck and rummaged through the console and glove box. Tools and loose change were scattered throughout the truck, but the only thing missing was the truck key.

The victim said that that key was the only key he had to the truck, and to have a replacement made would cost about $350.

Officers noted there is a security camera on the premises, but it does not face towards the truck.
