Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – July 19, 2024 – A 59-year-old Jonesboro man filed a report with JPD this week regarding a Forgery.

The subject is a landlord at a local apartment complex and had possession of a check from one of his tenants for their last month’s rent. The check was written by the Jonesboro Urban Renewal Housing Authority.

The tenant had already moved out, so the landlord headed to the bank to deposit the check.

Upon arrival, the bank told him that this check had already been cashed and was non-negotiable.

Confused, he contacted JPD and advised them that the tenant handed him this check herself, so there’s no way it could have been cashed.

Turns out, the tenant had made a copy of the check that she received from JURHA and kept the real one for herself. She gave the copy to her landlord, and cashed the real one before he had a chance to get to the bank.
