Tara Leann Walker, 55, passed away at home Friday,  September 27, 2024. Tara was born April 3, 1969, at St. Bernards Medical Center, to Lester and Barbara Mullen of Monette. She shared the same birthday as her mother. She married the late John William “Bill” Walker in November 2002 and raised their family in Jonesboro. She was a 1987 Buffalo Island High School graduate and attended Journey Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Tara was always a friend to anyone in need, with a comforting word and comfort food. She loved spending time talking to her friends, of which there are many. She worked decades in various federal clerk positions, most recently USDA Crop Services. She loved flea marketing, cooking, and animals, especially her black lab, Finn. She was a fan of old TV shows from “Matlock” to “The Love Boat.” No one could whistle the “Andy Griffith” theme song like Tara.
She is survived by her two children, Ashlyn Drew and John Cody, of the home, the loves of her life; parents, Lester & Barbara Mullen of Monette;  brothers, Kevin (Melanie) Mullen of Jonesboro; Keith (Holly) Mullen of Paragould, and her nephews Maddox, Kellan, and Karsen; along with a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 9 years, John William “Bill” Walker; maternal grandparents Herbert and Anna Pearl Roberts ; and paternal grandparents Jeff and Inez Mullen.
A Celebration of her life will be Wednesday, October 2nd, at 10:00 a.m., at The Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Cody Walker, Keith Mullen, Kevin Mullen, Lester Mullen, Maddox Mullen, Kellan Mullen, Karsen Mullen, Ryan Baldridge, Jered Rolland and Justin Rolland. Honorary pallbearers are all cousins and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 1,from  5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
The family asks friends and relatives who would like to leave a lasting memorial to consider St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society.
