Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A Blytheville man was given a $750,000 cash/surety bond following his arrest in connection with a deadly Jonesboro shooting that occurred earlier this week.
District Judge David Boling found probable cause July 8 to charge 23-year-old Jeremiah Edrick Northern with two class Y felonies: First-degree murder (homicide) and aggravated robbery.
The charges stem from his arrest as the result of a shooting that occurred on July 6 on Fairview Drive, where at 7:41 p.m., officers found an unarmed victim and a deceased male with a gunshot wound. While officers were on the scene, the unarmed victim’s girlfriend arrived.
According to the probable cause affidavit, multiple pieces of evidence were found at the scene, including shell casings, two handguns, a large amount of glass, and marijuana. The unarmed victim and his girlfriend were taken to the Jonesboro Police Department, where they were interviewed by police.

In a Mirandized interview, the victim’s girlfriend said she took their children into the home around 7:00 p.m. and, while in one of their rooms, heard the front door open. She then heard a male’s voice say “put it down” twice before multiple gunshots went off.
Once they stopped, the girlfriend took all of her children out of the home and saw a male subject lying in the living room. She transported the three juvenile children to the home of the victim’s mother before coming back to the scene.
A detective spoke with the victim, who explained that an acquaintance of his known as “Bic” and another subject came to the home to buy marijuana. The victim and two other men went into the kitchen, at which time he gave a pound of marijuana to “Bic”. That’s when the other male pointed a firearm at the victim and stated, “I’m going to need all of it,” leading to the victim putting his hands up.
The affidavit said “Bic” walked out the front door with the marijuana and closed the door behind him. The unknown male backed toward the front door and attempted to open it. When the male tried to open it, his gun was still pointed toward the victim. This caused the victim to quickly grab his own firearm, and he began to shoot at the unknown male, and the male collapsed to the floor.
The victim went out the front door, thinking that “Bic” would return to the home. He said that “Bic” was in the passenger side of a BMW with the door open and someone was in the driver’s seat. The victim opened fire on the vehicle before it sped off. He told police that his primary concern during the incident was the well-being of his girlfriend and his children. He also identified “Bic” as Northern.
Police said the vehicle was later found abandoned and had several bullet holes in the passenger side door and windshield.
Northern was arrested and booked into the Craighead County Detention Center at 12 p.m. July 7, according to the inmate roster.
In addition to the $750,000 bond, Boling ordered Northern to have no contact with the victim and wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.
Northern’s next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 21. If convicted on both charges, he faces up to life in prison.
